Plastic Surgery
Ok lar, actually its more of cosmetic surgery. Cos plastic surgery sounds like I'm going for Botox shots, which I hope I won't need so soon lah..haha. So I've finally decided to throw some money (actually its quite a hefty sum) to remove those small white lumps around my eyes. It seems like recently they've grown to be quite conspicuous and people have been pointing them out to me and making scary comments like "You better remove them soon leh, skali start to grow bigger and bigger!".
I have always thought they were milia seeds and that they were caused largely by my careless and over-enthusiastic application of eye products which were not suitable to my skin type. I've grown so tired of facial therapists pointing them out to me when I go for facials. HEELLLLOOO.....I CAN SEE THEM LOR. I know the only way to remove them is through laser surgery, but I've heard that that's pretty drying on the skin and I was afraid it'll do more damage than good to my face. Face is very important one mah. Which was why I let the condition continue till I finally could not take it and went for a consultation at Pacific Health clinic. Its situated at Paragon (19th floor), so yar, quite posh lah. The main doctor in charge there is Dr Patricia Yuen and the consultation took place last Sat.
She summed up the situation rather quickly and clarified quite a number of the doubts and questions I had in mind. Like for eg, many people had told me the lumps were due to me having high cholesterol levels but I knew that wasn't true cos I go for check-ups every year and I'm given a clean bill everytime! Dr Yuen explained that the lumps caused by high cholesterol levels are rectangular in shape and they also grow around the same area as the lumps on my face. My lumps are more of oval in shape and there's actually no particular reason for the growth at all. She informed that some people just more prone to it, and are not caused by wrong diet or application of facial products. And the lumps were also NOT millia seeds as the latter grow on the exterior of the skin. Mine are actually growths from within the skin.
So anyway, I'm happy that at least, my cholesterol levels are healthy. HUMPH!!
I scheduled the laser treatment to be carried out this coming Thurs, so that I have Good Friday, and the weekend to recover. Dr Yuen said the 'surgery' would not take more than half an hour, but that the entire area around my eyes would be really really red, which also means 见不得人啦. My only worry now is if I'll manage to recover on time for an office event coming up soon next week. But don't care liao lah, I just want to get it done once and for all.
Actually quite looking forward to seeing my face without those lumps. =)
