A Reversal of Roles
0645pm: I reached home. Mom had already cooked dinner and told me to eat first and not wait for her as she would be visiting our family doctor at 7pm.
0710pm: Mom left home to see doctor.
0810pm: Mom returned, and informed the doctor had already referred her to the A&E Dept (SGH) and to go there IMMEDIATELY for ECG screening. I then hastily changed and accompanied her there.
0830pm: Reached hospital, and after some initial questions, mom was pushed in for the screening while I waited at the lounge.
0930pm: Doctor spoke to me and informed (to my relief) that initial screenings looked normal, but would have to wait another 2 more hours for more detailed results to come out. Smsed father and sis about latest updates (can only sms, as low HP battery so couldn't call...damn!)
1030pm: Visited mom at the Observation Ward, but was later chased out by the nurse. So continued waiting at the lounge
1120pm: Finally, nurse informed EVERYTHING WAS OK. Staff would call to make an appointment for a follow-up with a heart specialist in a week's time.
1130pm: Paid $80 for the scanning and medicine and left the hospital.
Sis was actually very worried, cos due to my short smses, she didn't really knew much about the situation and hence, started imagining all the bad stuffs. Sigh, it was also most fortunate that I had not helped my mom book her tour package to ZhangJiaJie (early Oct) cos given her 'condition' now, I really don't think she should go lor. I can also see that she feels quite disappointed lar, but this is for the best. Cos what if she kena the breathlessness there leh? I cannot even start to imagine the consequences.
I've seldom seen my mum requiring my company (or my sis's) in any situation, so yesterday was something rather new. Guess it further reminded me that she is really getting old liao, and its time I have to start paying more attention to her (and my father)'s health and well-being. Feels kinda of weird at first, cos it has always been the other way round for the last 27 years.
Hmm...and it also feels a bit odd, coming to work today like normal, when something so dramatic (feels like that to me lar) had happened just yesterday night. Funny lar.

Glad to hear your mum is ok. Let's hope the specialist gives her the green light too. Perhaps your mum is exhausted. Older folks tend to think they can still do the things they did in their 30s and 40s. Just be more watchful. Watch your own health too.

Thanks everybody, for your kind concern and 问候. My mom is feeling much better already. She's suspecting that her condition could be due to her tea-drinking habit. Seems like she always gets heart discomfort after drinking her favourite teh-0 or teh.
Of course now, she's staying far far away from tea!

Ok, at least that's something minor. Do also look out for drinks such as coffee since it is likely that she might be caffeine intolerant, although I have no idea what the symptoms are.
