一个忙得很开心的周末
My busy weekend actually started on Friday night. I skipped choir to prepare the D24 durian paste for my first try at baking Durian Puffs. This step is actually quite easy, and what I need to do is just to 'cook' the durian till they are relatively drier and add some sugar. After that, the paste was packed tightly and refrigerated, waiting to be used the next day.
Come Saturday, I woke up at 8am (early ne!) and started taking out my baking barang barang, as well as measure the ingredients needed. All actually went rather well, with the puffs rising nicely in the oven (according to Valerie, this was the step which many people fail to achieve), and I was of course absolutely delighted lar. BUT......(must always have a 'but' one...), I don't know what happened....the baked puffs got very very stuck on my baking trays and they absolutely refused to budge at all! When I attempted to dig them out with a spoon, the bottom part of the puffs gave way and I ended up with puffs which have no bottoms! This posed a SUPER big problem, cos I'm supposed to cut a opening at the top of the puffs and stuff the durian cream in mah. Without the bottoms, the cream would probably leak out of the puffs as soon as I put them in lar! Die die die!!!
So how? I decided then to put the cream into the puffs (those which are still stuck to the trays), and then just bring the trays to my cousin's place lah. Like that right, the durian cream gets to stay INSIDE the puffs, and the puffs also still look presentable. VOILA! Me smart right? And hor, you know what I did with those 'bottomless' puffs? I also stuffed them with the durian cream (bo bian, cos made too much cream, don't want to waste..D24 leh!) and joined every 2 puffs together (through their bottoms) to make 1 puff. This way, they also STILL looked nice and even better, can get twice the amount of puffs with every 1 bite! Ha ha ha!! 真聪明!!
Ok then I finished baking around 12pm, and had to rush off to meet my choir friend Mildred for our monthly facial and massage. Of course no need to say, very shiok lah. Then at 0545pm, it was off to my hairdresser at The Heeren for a haircut. This time, I finally changed my hairstyle to a tamer and more ladylike (I would like to think) look. Course since the day I started working, I had been sporting a short spikey cut for like FOREVER lor. I must say I kept this hair style for like 6 years liao, mainly because its the one which I found most suited to my face shape and hair texture. Now, I have absolutely no 'spikes' on my hair, and the current style is a more flatter kind. My colleague Aw said I look like school girl. Wah lau, so 夸张 lor. I myself am still trying to get used to it. Still get a minor shock whenever I look into the mirror. Haha.
Finally reached home at around 9pm. Absolutely too bonked out to practise dizi liao (excuses excuses!). Spent the remainder of the night watching THE LAST OF MY 宫 DRAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My God!!! It was such a emotional roller coaster ride lor, the last 4 episodes! Please let me elaborate more about this show can? Please please please? =)
I first knew about this drama from Snowystar's brief introduction lar. And then hor, just so 巧 my choir pal Adeline had recently bought the VCDs but was too busy to start watching it. I of course 'koped' it from her and started getting addicted to it from Day 1 (which was last last Sat). I tell you har, THE SHOW IS SO FUNNY!!!! And refreshing too, cos I've not seen a modern day palace drama before and the settings (not to mention the costumes) are so absolutely breathtaking and beautiful!! But of course, how can a korean drama NOT have a love story in it right? That would be like the main attraction of the show lah. Got 4 sided love square some more. Its an extremely addictive show lar, don't start unless you're sure you can stay up till 12am each day to watch it. I'm serious! Go buy, borrow, beg, do anything (except steal or download illegally from Internet hor...) to get the drama and I promise you won't be disappointed. My colleague Aw (also a big time Korean drama fan) had asked me which was better, My Lovely Kim Sam Soon, or Princess Hours (another name for the series). This is really difficult to answer, cos both I love leh. KSS I like for its fast pace, witty dialogue and the minimum 'dragginess' (no such word I know) in the series. Princess Hours ranks high for its wonderful settings (I would love to reside in those rooms!!), dreamy-looking actors and actresses (the main actress - 2nd from the right, is a real cutie!!), interesting palace rules (a bit like 大长今), FABULOUS SOUNDTRACK, and of course, a happily-ever-after ending. So how to compare right?
Ok, I better stop here...I know I'm gushing too much about Korean dramas liao. Cannot help it lah... and oh...actually I remembered Channel U (or is it 8?) is going to show Princess Hours soon. But I heard it would be at 7pm....not very good leh, this timing. Don't think most of us would have reached home yet. Anyway, if you had watched and liked Full House and18 Years Old Bride, I guarantee you will like 宫 very much.
Hee hee hee...I'm going gaga all over again.

Hey me also still very 'xiao' over the show now, even though I finished watching it 2 days ago. Now re-watching some of my favourite scenes...hahaha! Don't want to return the VCDs to my friend.
The OST is very good, and comes with 2 CDs and 1 MTV DVD...so worth it! And got a small pictorial book inside, with teddy bear stickers also. =)

After watching the first few episodes of KSS on channel U, I find it really funny. Then coincidently, my friend has the dvd, so I borrowed it from her. Don't know why, after the 7th episode, I don't feel like watching it anymore cos of the predictable plot. And I don't like the ending at all!! Urgh...
So far, I only like 2 korean drama- Red Bean Girl and 18yr Bride. And I have to agree with SnowyStars's "50 things you learn from Korean dramas" wholeheartedly. Hahaa...
Think I still prefer the old jap dramas. Plot is much much better... =P

i do agree that the old jap dramas are much better in terms of storyline and plots, who can forgets Beach Boys, Under the Same Roof, Love Generation and one more which I can't remember the name but its this gal who is a mute and fell in love with the doctor.
