心有余, 而力不足

Wow wow...this must be the longest blog-free period I went through since the day I started blogging. I'm so sorry guys for MIA-ing the past 2 weeks. Its been hell of a 2 weeks for me....the title of this entry says it all! Things have been happening one after another continously....giving me no time to rest/surf net/msn chat/blog/choir...and I even had to miss my beloved aerobics classes.....gawd!!!

No need to guess la...the main thing which occupied most of my time and energy was none other than my work lor (I didn't even have free time to go for any SDU events leh!!). Something big suddenly cropped up, and it threw my entire office into disorder and chaos (ok, mabbe not as bad as that...but something near to that level). Everybody's daily life was disupted because of this stupid idiot event which occurred. I'm just so so glad it's finally over lah....but at least something's good came out of it, and I also gained some very useful experience in the midst of it all.

I've also recently started my acupuncture sessions, which I hope will be successful in treating my horrible monthly cramps. Actually, I've long given up hope on getting rid of the cramps, cos its more or less a hereditary issue and as long as the cramps limit itself to only one day per month, I'M ALREADY VERY SATISFIED liao! It used to last 3 days/month during my schooling time...but now with the regular consumption of evening primrose oil and exercise, the duration and level of pain had reduced to something which I can still tahan. But recently, my sis went for acupuncture to treat her inflamed tendons (feet), and her situation improved quite radically after only 5 sessions! This is quite miraculous, considering the fact that our family doctor had already declared her condition to be incurable! So that got me wondering if it could also work miracles for me lah. So far, I've undergone 4 sessions, and although there was still pain for my most recent period, it was considerably lesser and at least, I did not have to resort to taking Panadol, which I heard is bad for the liver on the long run. Heard only lah....dunno how true ok.

But acupuncture is definitely not for everyone...cos its quite painful leh!!! The first time I did it, I think I went pale when the needles went into my body. Cos its very very different from getting injections as like in your family clinic. For acupuncture to work, the needle has to be carefully poked into certain points, and if inserted correctly, it should give one the sensation that the needle has gone right deep into your body, and not just the surface. Its this feeling which I could not withstand during my first sessions. How should I say it....its not actually painful....its just....very sore and 酸酸的感觉. Very difficult to describe....but for every session, I had to endure 2 needles on my tummy, and 2 on each leg. Then the doc will clip some electrode thingy to the needles, which will then send a vibrating sensation to the needle points. After 4 sessions, I still can't say I've gotten used to it, but for my cramps to disappear....I guess I'm willing to try anything lah. When you've been plagued by something since the age of 14, which occurs every month, its really gets quite sickening and sian, especially when it starts to disrupt your daily life and work.

And oh yes Batman, the acupuncture sessions was also one of the reasons when I had to KIV the ballroom dancing classes. I'm so sorry hor...hope you were not too disappointed leh. Paiseh.

But on a brighter note, the trip to KL was rather fun and fruitful. Though it lasted only 2 days, I must say no one went home empty handed or unsatisfied! Though I did not really pick up anything really cheap or what lah (I ended buying from Giordano and Nike.....like Sg doesn't have like that), but just being in a foreign country for the weekend felt quite good leh....and my proudest buy was 3 super super cheap, but authentic A&F tees!!! Wow! I couldn't find them in Sg leh, and even if have right, it would have cost at least $50 per shirt! Those I bought in KL were less than $20 each! Nice!

Food was quite ok lar...the usual buffet stuffs...and we also ate at a roadside claypot stall at their Pertaling Street (Chinatown). I was actually rather disappointed with their Chinatown, cos everybody was like saying how good it was, and that we should not give it a miss when we go KL. But when we reached there, all I could see were rows and rows of pirated stuffs lah...from VCDs to shoes, watches, bags, etc. And their shop attendants, mostly the local ah bengs, were also quite persistent and irritating. Yeeeee yucks! Would never go back there again....The only good thing was that all the Chinese there spoke mostly Cantonese...which I was rather surprised to hear at first. And the only Chinese who spoke in Mandarin were found only in big departmental stores like Isetan. Interesting huh....like a mini Hong Kong.

Hmmmm....think I've already pretty much summarised what I went through during the past 2 weeks......fortunately my work level has returned to normal....so hopefully I will have the time to blog as often as I did previously lah. =)

P.S. Forgot to say....I have a choir performance tomorrow evening at CHIJMES....quite excited about it...and for the first time, I'm wearing a gown instead of the choir uniform, cos I'll be playing the piano for the performance. The acoustics at CHIJMES is supposedly to be quite impressive....just hope that I won't be playing too many wrong notes lah.
