While chit chatting this afternoon about whether we should have some farewell lunch for my Malay colleague RH who's leaving in Feb, another colleague, Miss Ah Yat (so called because of her fondness towards the restaurant) recounted a event which revolved around RH, and which had made Miss Ah Yat extremely paiseh. But its very farnie!!

There was one morning where RH called up his boss (we had different bosses then) and said he had to take urgent leave. The reason he gave was "my CAT died". But his very blur boss heard it as "my DAD died", and was of course very sympathetic upon hearing the news lar. RH was given his leave, and his boss also informed the rest of us (but not me, forgot why I wasn't in office that day) about this piece of sad news. Actually hor, also cannot blame RH's boss for hearing it wrongly, cos it was true that RH's father had been quite sick for some time. My very helpful and efficient colleague, none other than Miss Ah Yat, immediately started collecting 白金 contributions from everyone in the office.

When she was almost done, another colleague who's a close friend to RH, then asked Miss Ah Yat quizzically "Eh, I thought RH's cat died leh. He smsed me so one leh. Don't tell me his dad also passed away on the same day ah?". Wah lau! Most fortunately, Miss Ah Yat immediately asked RH's boss to confirm, and it was only then that the entire matter was clarified.

Haha! Imagine if Miss Ah Yat had really handed the 白金 collections to RH when he returned. Dunno what he will think man "Wah, pet died also have 白金 one ar?".

And poor Miss Ah Yat had to return the money to everyone in the office, and also had to explain the mistake over and over again. I heard that she also kena teased by everyone the entire day. Muah ha ha! Yar, me very evil to laugh at her, but cannot help it. =)
