I am the lass, past and present
I am the child who was so chubby that the nickname 发水面包 never ceased till I entered Primary school.
I am the child who cried so much during my first day in kindergarten.
I am the child whom you both slogged to support my piano lessons.
I am the child who truly forgave you when you once hit my head so hard that my ears ached. Because I knew you later regretted your actions terribly.
I am the child who was so nervous on her first day of Primary 1, that she vomitted all the food she ate during recess.
I am the child whom you stayed up with when I couldn't finish my maths homework in Primary 3.
I am the child who saw you cry for the first time, after hearing about my miserable year end exam results.
I am the child who also made you proud when I scored a distinction in Maths and got into the prestigious Violet class in Primary 6.
I am the child who dutifully signed up for all the ECAs you chose for me all the way till JC, even though I disliked some of them.
I am the daughter who tried to make you happy by printing a Mother's Day card in my first attempt using the school's computer.
I am the daughter who did not understand why we were suddenly poorer than before when I entered Secondary School.
I am the daughter who still thinks you are the best chef in the world.
I am the daughter whom you used your hard earned money to buy me a Sovil Et Titus watch, when I scored well enough to study in VJC.
I am the daughter who hid in the kitchen with mom and sis, to surprise you with a cake on your birthday.
I am the daughter who nearly cried when I bowed to you both in my Uni's graduation ceremony.
I am the sister who always bluffed you with a teddy bear reward, so that you would let me have my way.
I am the sister who scolded you every time I taught you English comprehension in Primary School.
I am the sister who caused you to bleed so much behind the ear, while playing rough.
I am the sister who once couldn't tell you were having a fever and still forced you to go for that day's piano lesson.
I am the sister who fought for your interests and needs in front of mother, when she couldn't understand the situation you were in.
I am the sister who couldn't cook anything but instant noodles for your Sat lunches before our piano lessons.
I am the sister who still continues to hope that you would harmonise Christmas carols with her every year.
I am the sister who couldn't sleep if you are not back at home by 11pm.
I am the sister who admires your good dressing style (minus the ah lian parts though) and secretly envies your 身材.
I am the sister who was truly proud of you when you were featured on Channel News Asia.
I am the sister who admires your dedication to spread Buddhism through songs and dance.
I am the cousin who gladly gave you my newly bought pink hairband in exchange for the your red one, when I saw you secretly crying in the corner, and also because you were and still is my favourite cousin.
I am the cousin who always envied how tall you were.
I am the friend who writes down all your birth dates in my diary and tries to remember to send a birthday greeting to you on your special day.
I am the friend who tries to always speak frankly in front of you.
I am the friend who, despite my utmost good intentions, never manage to say the right stuffs to console you during your bad moments.
I am the friend who is still trying my best to do the above.
I am the friend who appreciates all the times you provided a listening ear to the crap I was saying, and never once cut me off.
I am the friend who really treasures all the times (both happy and sad) we had together.
I am the child, sister, friend and lass. Who are you?
