Yes! I finally did it! Met up with the first of the SDU guys I knew through the personal ads, I did! My mind was an absolute total blank during the train journey to the meeting place at Plaza Sing. I had not allowed myself to form any expectations at all, cos I did not want to be disappointed (or shocked) at the end of it. It was very very hard to stay calm during the trip…..v.v.v.tough leh!! Even worse than waiting for my exam results!

Before I left home, I had asked him (through sms) what he was wearing, since I didn’t know how he looked like. He then replied me, “ a blue checked shirt with black pants”. I was dismayed. WHO IN THE WORLD WEARS SO FORMAL ON A WEEKEND ONE!!!! The only people I know who wear black pants even during weekends are my father (who still hasn’t converted to jeans) and my this guy friend whose taste in clothes is usually quite out of this world = a bit 老土(I hope he never gets to read this entry ever) but who is nevertheless a nice guy. So, I was like, hmmmm, is he a conservative type of person? Got a bit worried there, I must say….cos I’m a person who often speaks my mind too fast to realize if what I just said was appropriate or not.

Anyway, I had to go through it still, whether he’s wearing black pants or jeans or some other weirdo outfit. So when I first saw him, the main thoughts which were running about in my head were:

1) He’s shorter than I think (but taller than me lah)
2) He looks like one of the TV baddies I remembered seeing before
3) He’s not as tanned as he said he was
4) He’s REALLY wearing blue checkered shirt and black pants

And he sounded so quiet and soft when we intro each other. I was like” WHAT DID I GET MYSELF INTO??? “

However, things got much better when we really sat down and start chatting in Baker’s Inn (my first time there). He can joke around (phew!), and does not seem to be the really conservative kind. And even better, he later informed he was dressed as such because he had a wedding dinner to attend after our meeting. HAHA! Can you imagine how relieved how I felt? Anyway, dunno why I was so crazy to get worked up over the outfit issue lah. Xiao man!

Anyway, we talked for over 3 hours and then parted around 7pm plus. The after feeling was quite nice, though there wasn’t any sparks yet lah. He smsed me after his dinner and we chatted a while more over MSN the following day (which was yesterday). I should say it went quite well, given that this was my first attempt at dating through SDU. I still feel a bit jittery at the thought of going on a second meeting with this guy….but it will be nice to know him better also. I just wonder where we should go the next time round? =)
