Training frenzy
Training frenzy
I spent the past 2 days going for a 'Managing Change' course, which I felt, was pretty enriching and interesting! This came rather a surprise, as most of the courses I attended in the past, did not really apply well to my job, and were also quite boring. But this one, I would recommend it to all...since as everyone now knows...change is constant, and definitely unavoidable. The only drawback is that, its quite an expensive session! Costs around $400+..gosh...those trainers must be earning big big bucks....
The best part was...on Mon, I actually forgot I had a course, and came to office as usual. Then, when I consulted mycalendar for any meetings (or facial appointments..=P)...I stared in horror as I saw two big circles marking 20th and 21st of Sept....and it was supposed to start at 8.30am, where at 8.35am, I was still in office, reeling from the shock!! Fortunately, I managed to nab a fellow colleague, who was kind enough to give me a ride there.....aiyoh....i seldom so blur one....guess it must have really slipped my mind....
My weekend was really quite a enjoyable one. I played Squash again, after stopping since I left U, with my hostel mate. And it was after the game, that I realised, I still like it pretty much...mostly becos its one of the only sports I'm good at lah. But also realised my stamina was not as good as the days I was in Sec sch. Back then, I could play several games at one go...last Sat, I was panting like xiao already, after just half an hour of running around in the court. Hope I can manage to regain my 'better' form soon....me and my fren are thinking of making it a fortnightly event. And I also gotta buy some sports apparel to go with it...realise I've got no decent shorts which I can step out of my house in...had to borrow from my sis. Also, my squash grip is really going into pieces...i had 2 blisters on my hand after the game. It was while searching for a squash court to play our game, that I found out...there's really not many courts in Singapore which can offer people like me, reasonable booking rates. Most of those which I found on the net belonged to clubs, societies, condos, etc etc. But its expected lah...cos the sport is not exactly a popular one, and many people have even forgotten how the game is played. Its really sad, esp for people like me who want to take it up again.
Sunday, I went for volunteering at the theatre place again, after a respite of 2 weeks. This time, I ushered for a play starring Karen Tan. It was quite a interesting play...given the fact that its a one-woman show. Karen was quite good in portraying her role....and came across as extremely believable and real. Which was why, I'm glad for the opportunity to volunteer at this theatre house...it really gives me the chance to see how plays are done, and exactly why some people are so passionate about it. I've come to appreciate the efforts those theatre groups go in bringing this form of art to the public, and that in certain ways, I really feel watching a play is much much more interesting than watching a movie. I can definitely feel the emotions the actress/actors are going through, much better than those in the movies. Which is also why, I guess, that the ticket price for a play is so much higher than a movie ticket. But to those who knows how to appreciate the latter, I think it would be worthy price to pay indeed!
