Housekeeping life
Housekeeping life
Its been 6 days since my mum left for her JiuZhaiGou trip last Sat. So far, the remaining members in my family are still coping relatively well in her absence. We are dividing the household chores between me, my sis, and my father....and of course, I found myself taking the bulk of the duties lah. But its voluntary lah....cos on one hand, I only trust myself for the tasks...and 2ndly, I have a rather forgetful sister and father. But most of the chores are quite simply really....its the REMEMBERING part which is difficult. Which is why every time my mum goes on her annual leave, it makes me really appreciate the efforts she puts in maintaining this home. In addition to carrying out all the chores we are now currently taking over, she still has to work, cook, wash toilet, etc etc. We on our part, only helps in washing dishes, vacuuming, ironing and folding clothes. These sound so minor, as compared to what she does everyday, with no complaints whatsoever. This set me thinking....that if I were to ever be a mother...will I be able to live up to my mum's standards? Will I be able to be so self-sacrificial for my family? I really can't imagine myself doing all these now.....its too taxing boy! Guess I better take it one step at a time. Maybe, when the time comes, I will somehow...rise to the occasion and do what's nec. Just maybe.......but i do know one thing....and its that I could possibly do almost everything my mum does now...but I would never be able to cook like her...in fact, I don't think I would ever be able to cook at all!! Frying eggs and cooking instant noodles....still manageable, but further that this.....dun think so!
The Mooncake festival is arriving, and I'm really looking forward to a gathering with my cousins this sat. I've not checked with them the actual prog, but I'm sure we'll end up doing something crazy, but fun. And of course, I'm also very looking forward to my mum's return this Sun morning. Wonder what interesting stuffs she bought from the trip this time....last year, she came home with a big box of peaches....
